Just submit your website to Yahoo…..in fact you dont even need to do that, the search engine will find you in time.

The strategy is similar for most search engines. Users enter a phrase into the search engine, sites are listed in the results ranked by their relevance to the phrase and their popularity (authority).

Small operator have no realistic chance of getting a decent ranking for high traffic keywords. For example there are 127,000,000 results for “Jewelry” and 2,330,000 search results for “jewelry store”, but only 37,400 results for “cat sweaters” it would be easier to get listed near the first page for the latter term that has 60 x less competition.

Typically a smaller web site has to be focused on a specific topic, optimized for a very small set of key phrases related to the topic. The selected key phrases can be included in the domain name, text headers and body text, image captions, file names and alt text.

Try entering in the search engine the phrase that best represents your site’s topic and not the number of search results.

On site optimization is only half of the job, off site optimization, mainly creating backlinks to your site is the single most import task to improve a site’s search results ranking. It can take months for the effect of some new added links to be reflected in search ranking.

You do not register/submit keywords to search engines unless you are running a pay per click (PPC) campaign.

You should look at each page, decide what the page is about and what you would like it found for, then make sure that the phrase(s) you want to be found for are in the , meta description and in the page content as a starter. Then try to find some links where you use the phrase (not too many too quickly or with the same phrase or the engines can penalise your site – vary the phrases a little if you can)

Hope that this helps

I believe that you have to submit keywords on your own site. I don’t think you do that on Yahoo.
