Webmasters know that it is all about having accurate info. Of course that is true for just about everything. Time is your real foe here. Most sites on the web rely heavily on images to give the page a more visually appealing look or to explain something to the site’s visitor. Examples of the latter can be a photo of the owner of the site or some kind of map that can explain something to the visitor more easily than when using text.

Search engines, at the moment, can’t “read” images. The phrase “An image is worth a thousand words” is not true in SEO-land.

Google will show Maggie 534,000 resources on “bread baking”. Unless she fails to find what she wants on the first page, or top 10 results, she will never find your website listed 124th in the results. (Actually, if she does not find what she wants in the top twenty or thirty results, she is likely to refine her search to “easy bread baking” or “home bread baking”).

How do you get into the top 10 results? You might have heard a lot about “search engine optimization” and “ranking analysis” and “algorithms”. It all sounds very complex, but it really works on a simple 1 - 2 - 3 principle.

Do you want to increase your SEO skills, here are 10 tips on how to optimize your website to ride up the search engine rankings.

Be bold. Use the <b> </b> tags around some of your keywords on each page once or twice. Do NOT use them everywhere the keyword appears.

Deep linking. Make sure that you have links coming in to as many pages as possible. It will tell a search engine that your websites have lots of worthwhile content if other web sites are linking to different pages on your site. If all your links are coming in to the home page, it will tell a search engine that you only have a shallow site of little value, or that your links were just generated by automation rather than by the value of your site.
